In 2012, I met Clyde Hodson and he became a mentor to me in the area of prayer. I grew so much as God began to grow my prayer life. At that time, I did not have a consistent prayer life. One of the first things Clyde taught me was to use the “Lord’s Prayer” as a guide and outline for prayer walking and organizing my prayer life. He taught me to pray through the names of God. In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus teaches his disciples to pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…” As I began to learn to pray through the names of God and see how Jesus was manifested in each of those names, I began to see God show up in my prayer life. I began to see him become more real and intimate in whatever situation I would be facing in my life.
Intimacy with God is a goal of this week of prayer we are entering into during the 24/7 week of prayer. Praying through the names of God is a wonderful way to see Jesus, through the Holy Spirit manifest himself in your life. I encourage you as we spend intimate time with Jesus the week of January 9-16, to pray through the names of Jesus and begin to ask the Father to draw you to Him through the Son and the Spirit by seeing him become more real through who He is and how we can know Him more intimately. Looking forward to praying with you during our week of prayer.
